Polk County (WQOW)- We now know the name of a woman who was murdered in Polk County. A suspect has also been named and authorities say charges related to the death are expected within the next 48 hours.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says early Saturday morning a 911 call came in. The male caller said an ambulance was needed at 63 Main Street East, Apartment #2, in the Village of Milltown because someone was hurt badly. Before hanging up the caller never said who he was and calls back to the number went unanswered.
When officers arrived at the apartment they found Kari Roberts, who was dead. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office she appears to have died from blunt force trauma injuries.
Ms. Roberts lived at the apartment with Scott Youngmark. Officers found him at his mother's residence. He admitted to making the 911 call but denied causing the trauma to Ms. Roberts. During the conversation officers observed that Youngmark appeared to be drunk, which was a felony bond violation since he was out of jail on three open felony cases in Polk County. He was taken into custody.
Evidence and statements obtained during the initial investigation suggest that the statements Youngmark made in reference to Ms. Roberts death were inconsistent. That lead law enforcement to believe he was involved in her death.
An autopsy was done on Ms. Roberts. Her cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma injuries.
Youngmark will appear before a judge Monday on bond violation charges. It is expected that charges related to Ms. Roberts death will be filed within the next 48 hours.
