Viroqua man sentenced on federal child porn charge

Posted:

MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A federal judge Tuesday sentenced a Viroqua man to ten years in prison for distributing child pornography.

36-year-old Jeremy Hogenkamp was sentenced in federal court in Madison on the charge. He'd been in custody since September when he was found guilty.

U.S. Attorney John Vaudreuil states that an undercover internet operation led to Hogenkamp's arrest in February, 2010.  When his home was searched, investigators found computers and electronic storage media with child pornography.

Hogenkamp was already facing charges in La Crosse County for possessing child pornography.  He was sentenced to four months in jail and probation on those charges.  He completed his jail sentence before the federal charges were brought against Hogenkamp.

The investigation into Hogenkamp stretched across two countries.  Officers from the Toronto Police Department, FBI, and Dept. of Homeland Security were involved in gathering evidence against Hogenkamp.
