LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Tri-quest gave the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse $36,000 on Tuesday.
The donation is proceeds from the Tri-quest in September where 135 people ran a 5K race, biked 33K and then played 18 holes of golf.
The Boys and Girls Club will use the money to expand the teen center at Terry Erickson Boys and Girls Club on the north side of La Crosse.
Mike Desmond, Executive Director, said the club is growing at a huge rate.
He said the current room is too small to serve the 50 teens that use the center on a daily basis.
Desmond said they'll use the money to hire an architect and begin the expansion process.
"It tells us as a board of director and organization that they believe in our idea," Desmond said. "That they consider this a priority too on the north side then it makes it much easier to go out to the community and ask for dollars."
Desmond is hoping to announce a plan for the new teen center in the next six months.
Over the next year, they will continue raising money to expand the north side's teen center, as well as the West Salem Boys and Girls Club.
