EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) - The families of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook are asking for privacy as people in Evansdale wait to hear whether two bodies found by hunters are those of the missing cousins.
Black Hawk County authorities say the families want to express their gratitude to the hundreds of volunteers who have searched for the girls who vanished nearly five months ago.
Dozens of people held prayer vigil Wednesday night near the site where investigators found the girls' bicycles and a pink purse.
Authorities haven't said exactly where the bodies were found. The area is being processed as a crime scene.
The bodies have been taken to the state medical examiner's office for identification and more information may be released later in the day.
