Nell not afraid to replace McKay

La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  Jason Nell is new to the La Crosse Loggers, but's he's no stranger to the Northwoods League.

That's one reason why the team chose him to replace Andy McKay as their next manager.

Nell was actually hired a couple of months ago.

But he was in La Crosse Thursday as part of the teams annual winter barbeque at the Stoney Creek Inn.

Nell has 6 seasons of NWL experience and is 8th all-time in career wins.

So even though he's replacing a legend in McKay, he knows what he's getting into.

"Obviously, the bar is raised here. I know that going into it. But that's a good thing. I'd much rather have that situation going into it where the bar is high rather than going into a situation where the team is coming off a horrible year," Nell said.

Nell was the 2008 NWL Manager of the Year while at Mankato.

Currently, he's the head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College.
