COPY-Badgers hold first practice under Alvarez

Madison (WQOW) -- Meet the new coach, same as the old coach. Barry Alvarez returned to the sideline on Saturday to lead his first practice as Wisconsin prepares for the Rose bowl.

It was the Badgers' first practice since the Big Ten Championship game and players were excited to work under Alvarez. Dozens of former players were on hand to take in the practice. The team says it was a great start for the team's bowl prep.

"It was an awesome day," says tight ends coach Eddie Faulkner. "Obviously the energy from coach Alvarez deciding he wants to come back is huge and had everyone excited including the coaches and players alike. He definitely brings a feeling of confidence, a feeling that we have a chance to win."

Offensive coordinator Matt Canada agrees, saying: "If you look at our players and what they've gone through all year, they're resilient. They bounce back each and every week and it was a pretty good -- had a lot of life, had a lot of fun -- good day."

Wisconsin faces Stanford in the Rose Bowl, January 1st.
