MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- The loss of Bret Bielema and six Badger football assistants in two weeks is cause enough for concern, but UW athletics director Barry Alvarez has a message for fans:
"I'll hire a good coach and this program will continue being very good. So for those that are panicking, don't panic. We'll take care of business here and this program will be in excellent hands."
With so much turnover at Wisconsin, Alvarez considered making a bold move of his own.
"I was thinking about doing it myself just to keep them but if I did it for another year, we'd be in the same situation next year," Alvarez said.
But Alvarez said he didn't consider a return to the sidelines for very long.
"Like a day. Until I got home and my wife said, 'Are you sure?' And I said, 'No, I'm not sure, let me think about this.' But I did consider it," Alvarez said.
