Madison, WISCONSIN (WXOW) Barry Alvarez and the University of Wisconsin are poised to hire Utah State's Gary Andersen as the new head football coach.
The Wisconsin State Journal and the Journal-Sentinel both citing sources in reports Tuesday night that Andersen is the chosen one to replace Bret Bielema.
Andersen has been the head coach at Utah State for the last 4 seasons where he's gone 26-22.
But this season the Aggies are 11-2 and ranked 18th in the nation.
Andersen's Utah St. squad almost beat Wisconsin earlier this season, losing 16-14 after their kicker missed a field goal with 6 seconds left.
Before Utah St. Andersen spent 5 seasons as a defensive assistant at Utah.
