LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Many of you have a family plan for emergencies like Thursday's storm, but what if that plan doesn't work out? The La Crosse County Emergency Management team wants to remind people to have a backup plan. The first thing is to pay attention to local media for warnings about weather like Thursday or other emergencies. You should also have enough food to last at least a couple of days indoors. If you have kids, do you know where they will go if school is canceled?
Keith Butler, La Crosse County's Emergency Management Coordinator said, "Does your babysitter have a way of getting to you? do you have a way of getting to the babysitter? you need to work those things out and know what's my B plan in case my A plan is not working very well."
Keith added that your first priority in this type of weather is to stay home if you don't absolutely have to leave your house.
