LACROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Salvation Army had it's annual Christmas food basket distribution on Thursday despite the snow storm.
More than 50 volunteers handed out food baskets and gifts for children at the Salvation Army's Christmas headquarters. Families registered in early November to receive the food baskets and gifts from the angel giving tree.
Linda Mader, a volunteer for the Salvation Army says, "I would rather give than receive and it's wonderful to be able to help families that are down and out and just in a time of need in their life and they're so grateful and appreciative and it makes it all worth it."
Mader also said the Salvation Army is helping about 620 families and feeding around 2,500 people this year.
