GENOA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A De Soto woman escapes injury when she's pulled from her burning vehicle in a one car accident during Thursday's snowstorm.
Vernon County Sheriff John Spears says that Kathryn Berry, 48, was headed north on Highway 35 near the Genoa Lock and Dam when she lost control of her vehicle.
According to the sheriff, she crossed to one side of the road, hit a guardrail, crossed back over the road and into a wayside parking area where she hit an embankment.
The vehicle continued to run although it was stuck. Friction from the spinning right front tire eventually ignited the tire.
Because the crash caused the driver's side door to jam, Genoa firefighters pulled Berry through the window to safety. Firefighters then put the fire out.
Berry was not injured in the crash.
