Hometown Made: Pleasoning Gourmet Seasonings

Posted:

LACROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - If you're looking to add extra flavor to your home cooked meals, than Pleasoning Gourmet Seasonings in La Crosse has you covered.

Pleasoning started in 1952 and this year they are celebrating their 60th anniversary.  They are a family owned and operated business with just one employee.  Kathy Boarman took over the business after her father, Frank Italiano, retired in 1999.  Kathy's husband, Paul Boarman, takes part as co-owner of the business and their son Dominic works as a full-time employee.

"It's fun.  It's really interesting.  The three of us know each other pretty closely.  We come into work and we already know what needs to be done but we joke pretty much throughout the day and also as a family we can keep each other covered," says Paul Boarman.

Kathy Boarman says, "Times have changed a lot.  People used to go out to eat all the time.  Finances are tightening up, people are eating more at home and they're trying to find the flavors they can enjoy at home."

As well as caring over 35 different blends of seasoning, they are a healthy alternative to other seasonings because they are low in sodium.

"They want something that's gonna taste good and healthy and we give that tool,"  says Dominic Boarman.

Pleasoning hopes to continue to grow as a business and keep it family owned and operated.

Dominic says, "That's my grandpa's dream is to get as big as possible and provide a healthy alternative to salt all the time."

If you wanna purchase or maybe sample some of Pleasoning's seasonings, you can visit their outlet store on South Avenue in La Crosse or visit their web site.
