LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Mount La Crosse is enjoying the winter weather this season with almost half of their runs open and more opening daily. This time last year was the first day they were able to make snow, due to the warm temperatures. Darcie Breidel, General Manager of Mount La Crosse, says the hills have been busier than expected in the past few days. She suspects it is because skiers aren't taking the ideal conditions for granted after last winter.
Breidel said, "We were really nervous coming into this winter, because it was so warm and we couldn't make snow. So these cold temperatures are really doing us a big favor."
Mount La Crosse closes at 4 PM today, but will be open from 9 to 9 New Year's Day for those of you who want to ski in the new year.
