Pasadena, CALIFORNIA (WXOW) The Badgers 2012 season will go down as one in which they were good, just not quite good enough.
They're 6th loss of the season Tuesday in the Rose Bowl looked a lot like their other five.
The Badgers played a really good team tough, had a chance to win, but could not come up with the one play to turn it in their favor.
Wisconsin was driving for a winning score when Curt Phillips had his pass tipped and intercepted.
Stanford ran out the clock to ensure the Wisconsin's third loss in a row at the Rose Bowl.
"There was no doubt in my mind we were going to win that game. It's tough. It's been a hell of ride the whole time. I've really enjoyed it. Hope I get another chance to play next year,' Phillips said.
"Every season stands on it's own merit. We've played three very good football games. These guys played hard they pl;played to win. Coaches coached to win. But it's a different team," said UW Athletic Director and interim head coach Barry Alvarez.
Wisconsin finished the season 8-6.
All 6 of their losses were by 7 points or less, three of them in overtime.
