
La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The UW-La Crosse men's basketball team opened the new year with an impressive 65-53 win over UW-Platteville Thursday night at Mitchell Hall.
Jeff Heiden scored a career high 23 points and Trent Schmidt scored 17 off the bench to lead the Eagles.
UW-L used a 17-4 run in the first half and a 9-0 run in the second half to lead by as many as 15 points.
The Pioneers cut that to five in the second half before the Eagles finished it out.
UW-L is now 3-1 in the WIAC and 10-3 overall.
They continue to receive votes in the latest D3hoops.com poll.
