
Raymond R. NelsonWAUKON, Iowa (WXOW) - A Waukon Police officer was stabbed after responding to an assault call Saturday night.
The Allamakee County Sheriff says Officer Chad Dugan was stabbed during an incident at a home on Lyle Drive just before midnight. Sheriff Clark Mellick says Dugan was there on a complaint of an assault in progress.
As he entered the home, 60-year-old Raymond Nelson of Waukon stabbed Dugan with a screwdriver.
After a struggle with officers, Nelson was taken into custody and placed in the Allamakee County Jail.
He faces 2 counts of Assault on a Peace Officer, and one count each of Domestic Assault by Strangulation, Interference with Official Acts and Obstruction of Emergency Communications.
Dugan was treated and released from Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
