Winter Rec Fest Button Unveiled

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- La Crosse's Winter Rec Fest kicks off January 16 with the first clue in the 2013 medallion hunt. 

Activities like fishing, curling and snow shoe racing begin January 19. 

Monday, the winning designs for this year's rec fest buttons, t-shirts and other memorabilia were unveiled. 

15-year old Ryan Olson, a student at Logan High School, now boasts the winning design in his age category for the fourth straight year. 

This year, Olson's design will be featured on Winter Rec Fest advertising. 

"I get a kick out of it, because I love seeing my design on peoples' shirts, or on the buttons they wear," Olson said. "It's cool to see my work around town." 

The winning designs in each age group are chosen by La Crosse City workers. No names are displayed, so all voting is anonymous. 
 
There are four different age groups.

Buttons to participate in this year's Winter Rec Fest are $2.00. They can be bought at the Green Island Ice Arena, La Crosse City Hall, the South side Neighborhood Center and the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center.
