Newly elected State Rep. John Spiros (R-Marshfield) will juggle two offices for a few months.
Spiros will retain his seat on the Marshfield City Council until his term ends in mid-April, Marshfield City Administrator Steve Barg says. Spiros was sworn in as a state representative Monday for the 86th Assembly district.
"He thinks he can make at least enough of the meetings to make it through his term," said Barg. "In the end, I think he's going to be a good representative."
Spiros said he will likely miss three council meetings during the next few months, but he said it will be better for him to keep his seat rather than having the city appoint a replacement for a short time.
"It'll all work out," Spiros said on his way home to attend Tuesday's council meeting. "I'm not too worried about it."
Barg said there has been talk of changing the schedule of some Finance Committee meetings, of which Spiros is the chairman. The committee meets twice a month.
Spiros has served on the Marshfield City Council since 2005.
