MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A former aide to Governor Scott Walker was sentenced to probation for her conviction on doing campaign work on county time.
Darlene Wink was also ordered Thursday to pay a fine and $2,000 for court costs. Wink pleaded guilty last year to two misdemeanor counts of political solicitation by a public employee. She was charged as part of the John Doe investigation in Milwaukee County.
Wink worked for Walker while he was Milwaukee County Executive.
She faced up to a year in prison, but prosecutors agreed not to recommend time behind bars because Wink had a clean record and she cooperated with the prosecution of other cases.
Before sentencing, Wink offered a tearful apology and said she recognizes what she did was wrong.
Walker has not been charged with wrongdoing.
