BLOOMINGTON, Minnesota (WXOW) - An icy wonderland is open to visitors at the Mall of America.
The a giant ice castle opened New Year's Eve in the north parking lot of the Mall.
Instead of using traditional blocks of ice, builders used icicles to create the structure.
Creator Brent Christensen says that if the weather holds, the castles could stay open through the end of February.
The entire structure, which covers an acre, has a frozen tower that could eventually reach 40-50 feet in height.
