United Way kicks off "Give a Little Extra" Challenge

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The United Way kicked off their "Give a Little Extra" challenge on Monday.  The organization raises funds for more than 60 non-profit programs in the area.

The goal of this years campaign is to reach $2,050,000.  As of last week, they are $167,000 short.  Five anonymous donors have stepped up and provided $50,000 challenge pledge. If other donors donate $50,000 in pledges,  the anonymous donors will match that amount.

"As of last week we were just over $160,000 short," said Mark Glendenning, Great Rivers United Way Campaign Chair. "So we've been lucky enough to have five anonymous donors step up and provide $50,000 for a challenge.  As long as we get $50,000 of additional pledges in they'll match that."

If you would like to donate to the United Way, you can go to their web site at www.gruw.org.  You can also find out more about the organizations that are helped by the United Way.
