Steve Christiansen, president of Merchants Bank in Onalaska
ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Merchants Bank of Onalaska will be celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. As a celebration, they've started a program called 10 for 10 helping local organizations.
Here's how it works.
For each month this year, a local organization will setup a display in the bank's lobby. For each of the thirty days that display is setup, the bank will donate $10 to that group. Along with the $10 donation, Merchants Bank is encouraging their patrons and anyone else interested to donate. Each group will have a money donation container near their display for the public. Merchants will match up to $300 of whatever that organization raises by the end of their month.
Steve Christiansen, president of Merchants Bank in Onalaska says, "Giving back to the community is a huge part of what Merchants Bank is all about and we usually make donations for the right reasons. We don't usually do those to toot our own horn. We do that because it's the right thing to do and part of our culture."
Here is a list of some of the organizations participating in the 10 for 10 program:
January - YMCA
February - Children's Miracle Network
March - Freedom Honor Flight
April - Family and Children's Center
May - Hunger Task Force
June - YWCA "Walk a Mile"
