Western remembers Martin Luther King Jr.

LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Western Technical College honored Martin Luther King Jr. Thursday afternoon.

Pastor Rufus Parker, from Calvary Apostolic Church in La Crosse, told Western students about Dr. King taking a stand against injustice.

Parker said, a man of faith Dr. King built bridges of togetherness.

He said we can do that by keeping a level playing field when it comes to leadership, housing and education.

"We are one people," Parker said. "America's founding was that we would all be one. And when we understand that America was build on the principles of God. The principles of God were to all fall under that umbrella."

He also said we should live by the Bible and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
