LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Even after Lance Armstrong's doping admission, one bike shop manager believes the confession will not affect Trek Bike sales.
The Wisconsin-based Trek Bicycle Corporation has sponsored Armstrong for more than a decade.
At Smith's Cycling & Fitness in La Crosse, manager Erik Pueschner said Armstrong may have admitted to using performance enhancing drugs, but Wisconsinites will continue to support Trek.
"It's definitely a strong brand in our area versus, say, California or other areas of the country, but they do a lot for the communities, a lot for advocating cycling in general , make it a safer and better world for bikes," Pueschner said.
It's too soon to tell if Armstrong's admission has an affect on road bikes, Pueschner added. Sales are generally slow during the winter. Spring and summer sales will be a good indicator.
