LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)- Many students spent their Monday off relaxing but Girls on the Aquinas Dance Team spent their day at school rehearsing. And they'll be back again at 6am on Tuesday.
The team is busy preparing for this weekend's regional competition. But the competition is more than knowing a routine. The girls are also judged on their hair, makeup, and outfits.
"Our hair, our makeup, shoes, tights, everything has to look the same," said Molly Mullaney, Dance Team Captain. "We actually all have to use the same bronzer so out faces are the same tone of color… It's kind of stressful getting everyone to look the same."
"The competition is so much more than just their routine," said Raeanna Johnson, Dance Team Head Coach. "These girls have to have hair exactly the same, makeup, shoes, outfits exactly the same…The are docked points if they violate any of these things so we want to make sure we are going exactly by the rules as much as possible so that we can be focusing just on the dancing."
Dance teams that do well this weekend will advance to the state competition at the La Crosse Center on February 2nd.
Other area high school dance teams that are competing are Central, Logan, and Onalaska.
