MnDOT recommends no travel in SE Minnesota

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Slippery conditions from a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow are making travel difficult across southern Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is recommending no travel in a large part of southeastern Minnesota, including portions of Interstates 35 and 90.

MnDOT is also reporting difficult driving conditions across the Twin Cities metro area and other parts of southern Minnesota.

Several spinouts and crashes have been reported.

MNDOT spokeswoman Rebecca Arndt says crews are out treating the roads. But, she says, motorists should not travel on southern Minnesota roads if it's not necessary.

Motorists are advised to call 511 or visit MnDOT.org for updated road conditions.
