La Crescent café hopes to fill city’s breakfast need

LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) – The owner of a new La Crescent restaurant said her new café is filling a food need not being met in the city: Breakfast.

The Corner Café hosted its grand opening this weekend.

The Main Street restaurant is open only during breakfast and lunch hours.

Owner Lynne Nelson said La Crescent needed another breakfast option. She's hoping the café brings more people downtown.

"There's only a few places you can get breakfast in town and I heard a lot of people were crossing the river, and I wanted to keep them on this side of the river and I knew my location would be a good place for a breakfast place," Nelson said

During this weekend's grand opening, owners gave out gift certificates every half hour and free slices of apple pie.

Corner Café has been open since Dec. 14.
