SWISHER, Iowa (AP) - Authorities are investigating the shooting of 3 horses at a pasture in eastern Iowa's Johnson County.
The Gazette reports that one horse was killed and two wounded on Sunday afternoon at the pasture near Swisher.
Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek says the man fired more than a dozen shots. The two wounded horses are expected to recover.
Pulkrabek says deputies have talked to a suspect but no arrest has been made. He wouldn't name the man.
The sheriff says "It's really kind of a sad deal that somebody would shoot somebody's horses for no reason."
