Avalanche set aside distractions to take down Tomah

Onalaska, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  With an appeal on their playoff status looming, the Aquinas Co-op hockey team beat Tomah Tuesday 6-2 at the Omni Center.

The win gave the Avalanche a share of the MVC title with Onalaska.

Jack Anderholm had 3 goals and Jeren Kendall 4 assists to lead the way.

Aquinas Co-op scored 4 times in the 2nd period to blow the game open.

The team will have it's appeal heard Wednesday on it's playoff eligibility.

The WIAA originally ruled they were ineligible for the post-season because the team incurred three checking from behind penalties during the season.

A new rule this year says if a team incurs three such violations, they are disqualified from post-season play.
