Local Teens React to SOTU Address

LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) -- La Crescent High School freshmen are weighing in on the President's State of the Union Address.

"I liked the voting issue and the gun violence issues," said Carly Felten. "They were my favorites."

Felten said she comes from a household in which both parents are interested in politics, and has grown up watching SOTU speeches.

"In the future, these policies will affect us more than they'll affect our parents," she said.

Nayelli Guerrero, Felten's classmate in freshman civics class, said she agrees it's important for teenagers to stay informed of the political process.

"One day we'll be voting for president," Guerrero said.

"I liked how (President Barack Obama) discussed creating more jobs last night," Guerrero said.
