North Woods Students to Advance to State Book Battle

La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Two North Woods Elementary School teams won the School District of La Crosse's Battle of the Books competition.   The Battle of the Books competition requires teams of students to read 20 books from a pre-selected book list.  The teams then compete by answering questions about the books.
The competition, sponsored by the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association, is designed to promote a love of reading among students throughout the state.  Students respond to questions about the books' plots, characters, and settings. Teams of students
respond to questions by providing the correct title and author of the book described.
The first place team, named the BOBleheads included Ashley Anderson, Parker Blumentritt, Emily Flottmeyer and Levi Magnusson.  The second place team, known as the North Woods Global Readers included Gracie Jolie, Anika Nystrom, Adelaide Rosene and Brooke Thurman.
The BOBleheads now advance to the state competition, which is an online contest that will take place the last week of February.
