NEAR ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A rural burglary and three mile foot chase ends in 2 arrests.
According to the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, it started at 2300 block of 40th Avenue NE when a suspicious vehicle was reported.
Deputies found a man and woman burglarizing an abandoned farm for scrap metals.
The duo took off and led authorities on a chase through the woods that lasted about three miles.
A perimeter was set up with the added help of the DNR and Rochester Police.
Eventually, 34-year-old Mark Smith and 47-year-old Ann Steidler both of Rochester were arrested.
During an interview with authorities the two admitted to an earlier burglary about 3 weeks ago.
There's not a dollar amount tied to the burglary, but Sgt. Tom Claymon says the pair's car was packed with scrap metal.
