Fire Fighters in Black River Falls get new equipment

Black River Falls, Wisconsin(WXOW)-The Black River Falls Fire Department has been notified by the office of Congressman Ron Kind and the United States Fire Administration that the department will receive funding through the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant.

The fire department requested funds for new "SafetyEquipment" section for the AFG for funds to purchase new self contained apparatus compressor and cascade bottles for air storage.

The Federal grant will award the Department $48,430, for the purpose to protect the health and safety of the firefighters with safe breathing air with a new reliable compressor. The current compressor doesn't have a Carbon Monoxide monitoring device, which is needed for dangerous fire situations.

The new 6000PSI compressor and storage tanks will allow theDepartment to get full use of its 60 minute SCBA bottles which will allow firefighters more time to get tasks completed that they have been assigned.
