WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Students and faculty are grieving this weekend on the campus of Winona State University after a student was found dead in their dorm room.
Freshman Mitchell Grierson, 19, was found in his dorm room in Morey Hall over the weekend.
It's not clear what day and time he was found.
The cause of death has not been determined but the circumstances are not considered suspicious.
Grierson was from Dassel, Minnesota, west of the Twin Cities. According to his Facebook page, he was a graduate of Dassel-Cokato High School.
Connie Gores, Vice President for Student Life and Development says in the statement, "As we mourn the loss of this young man, I encourage everyone to reach out to those who may be suffering and come together to remember his life. Our companionship and support we offer each other may help us make peace with this tremendous loss. Please keep Mitchell's family and friends in your thoughts and hearts."
Counseling and support services are available to all students and community members who may be affected by this loss. A counselor will be available in Morey Hall from 1-4 pm and 7-9pm Sunday.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
