Kabat Reacts to Primary Victory

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Tim Kabat became one of two candidates to advance out of La Crosse's 11 candidate mayoral primary field Tuesday night.

He now faces former city council member Doug Farmer in April's general election.

Kabat, the current director of La Crosse's Downtown Main Street Inc., said his first political campaign has so far been a wild ride.

"The vote totals tonight and just the outpouring of support I've experienced going door to door over this last period of time as a part of the campaign -- it's just been awesome," Kabat said. "I'm super excited and just very humbled by the broad base of support we've had."

Kabat added he hopes to now broaden that base of support as he continues the campaign.

"The last several years working downtown I've reached out and had partnerships and gotten along well with large businesses, small businesses and everything in between," Kabat said.

"I've gotten along with the residents and citizens here and people of all different political persuasions," he said. "So I really have a broad base of support I want to continue to build upon."
