Sidewalk and hydrant snow removal

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Local Fire departments are encouraging residents to clean off fire hydrants and sidewalks around their homes for emergency crews.

The La Crosse Fire Department does offer free sand and salt mix for all local residents.

This free sand mix can be found at Fire Station One at 626 Monitor St., as well as Fire Station Two located at 1710 Losey Boulevard.

The department says it is extremely important for residents to keep the area around fire hydrants clean so the firefighters don't need to clean the fire hydrants during an emergency.
