La Crosse man arrested after skipping out during trial

Posted:

VIROQUA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A La Crosse man on trial in Vernon County takes off before the jury verdict, only to be caught a few days later.

Vernon County Sheriff John Spears reports Christopher M. Molzahn as on trial for two counts of stalking and felony bail jumping.  On February 21, during a break in the trial, Sheriff Spears says Molzahn left the courthouse.

Judge Michael Rosborough issued a warrant for his arrest, then proceeded with the trial. The jury eventually found Molzahn guilty of the three charges.

Three days later, Molzahn was arrested by La Crosse Police at a bar on West Avenue.

Molzahn was returned to Vernon County where he's jailed awaiting his sentence.
