LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Aquinas has found Dan Coughlin's replacement, and they didn't have to look far. Former assistant, Tom Lee takes over the Blugolds program.
Lee was introduced at a news conference Monday afternoon. He's been an assistant under Coughlin for the last 17 years and is a former Blugolds player too, having played offensive line.
The 41-year-old said his immediate priority is trying to put together his coaching staff. And although season doesn't start for another couple of months, Lee said he wants to instill certain values in his players in the off-season.
"I want them to be better in the fourth quarter than they were in the first quarter," Lee said. "No one's ever won or lost the game in the first quarter, and I just want these guys to compete...It doesn't take any talent to play hard. We're going to work hard to train our guys to play hard."
Lee inherits a team that went 5-5 last season and made the playoffs.
