MADISON, Wisconsin (WKOW) - On Wednesday, (02/27) hospital staff members took the stand to talk about the condition of the victim. Chad Chritton and his wife, Melinda-Drabek Chritton, are accused of starving and torturing Chad's 15 year old daughter.
On the stand, six doctors and nurses talked about their time caring for Chritton's daughter. She weighed less than 70 pounds when first hospitalized but gained nearly 25 pounds during her hospital stay.
Witnesses said the girl did not show signs of an eating disorder, as her family had indicated.
Donna Abella from St. Mary's Hospital, Pediatrics says, "She always wanted to make sure that she was going to have food to eat. So she would go out of her way to order, I think, extra food on her tray but then she'd kinda put it away."
The prosecution also called upon teachers from Glendale Elementary, where the girl went to school before being home schooled. Teachers said she would sometimes cry when it was time to go home and refuse to get on the bus.
