WESTBY, WI (WXOW) - Couleecap is pleased to report that in 2012 it helped 38,744 people, or 17,958 households.

Couleecap offers help with housing, food, transportation, and more.

It has assisted people in Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe, and Vernon counties in the following ways:

• Over 2.8 million pounds of food collected and distributed
• 20,906 people received emergency food assistance
• 2,363 households received energy assistance payments
• 574 households received crisis energy payments
• 404 homes are warmer from home weatherization
• 125 households received emergency furnace repair or replacement
• 205 homeless households received housing, case management, and supportive services
• 181 people received loans to purchase vehicles for work, were assisted with car repairs for work; or rides to get to work
• 106 households received housing rehabilitation assistance

Couleecap was created in 1966 and is a community action program that fights poverty and promotes self-sufficiency.
