TOWNSHIP OF BURNS, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Three people are hospitalized after a car crash on Highway 16 Sunday.
It happened around 1 p.m. near West Salem, in the Township of Burns, slightly east of County Highway DE.
A car driving east crossed the center line and crashed into the guardrail.
That driver then went back into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into another car.
"We do have crashes that do take place where vehicles do cross over the center line and strike other vehicles head on. It's not a very common occurrence though," said Sgt. Bill Lubinski of the La Crosse County Sheriff's Department.
The Wisconsin State Patrol was called to assist with the crash site.
The accident is still under investigation.
