MINNEAPOLIS (WXOW/AP) - Flip Saunders is representing a group of investors that is interested in buying the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Wolves owner Glen Taylor confirmed on Monday that he has recently had discussions with Saunders on behalf of a group of owners who are looking to purchase the team. The identities of the investors were not immediately known. But if they are successful in purchasing the team, Saunders would be expected to take over as the leader of basketball operations.
Sports talk radio station KFXN-FM first reported the talks.
Taylor has been casually looking for a new owner for the team since last summer. But he is not close to completing any kind of deal.
Saunders coached the Timberwolves for 9 1/2 seasons and has also coached the Pistons and Wizards.
He also coached the La Crosse Catbirds to a CBA Championship during his tenure with the team.
