Packers not using franchise tag

Monday was the deadline for NFL teams to place a franchise tag on a player to prevent that player from entering free agency, and the Packers chose not to use that option.

Word around the league was that Green Bay would use their franchise tag on wide receiver Greg Jennings but that would have taken over 10 and half million dollars of the team's alloted salary cap space for 2013.

This means that he can now begin testing the free agency waters, opening up the door for other teams to shoot offers at the 29-year old pro bowler.

It's likely that a team with less depth at the receiver position will scoop him up.

The free agency signing period begins March 14th.
