Slick road leads to fatal crash in Grant County

GRANT COUNTY (WKOW) -- Authorities say one person was killed and three others hurt when a car and semi collided in Grant County.

A deputy witnessed the crash around 1 p.m. Monday on Highway 61 just north of Highway 81 near Lancaster. Sheriff Nate Dreckman says a car began to slide on the snowy road and ran into the semi.

The driver of the car, 26-year-old Matthew Cline of Argyle, was killed. Three people in his car were taken to Grant Regional Health Center for their injuries.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

Investigators say one of the contributing factors in the crash involved improper tires on Cline's vehicle.

Both lanes of Highway 61 were closed for about two hours.
