Sequester to close airport control tower

Posted:

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- The La Crosse Municipal Airport is preparing for the possible loss of the air traffic control tower.

The control tower has four full time employees. It's set to close April 7, unless Congress reaches a deal to undo the impending sequester cuts.

La Crosse has about seven commercial flights a day, but the manager says travelers wouldn't notice a difference because many airports operate safely without air traffic controllers.
