Onalaska, WI (WXOW) - A fire at Onalaska apartment complex has sent one person to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The Fire broke out around 7:30 at Leo Fishman Manor at 1106 Wilson Street. No word yet on the condition or identity of the victim. The Fishman Manor is an assisted living facility with 8 units.
Onalaska Police and Fire Departments responded to a life line alert notification, its a device that allows someone to call for help by pushing a button; crews responded to find smoke in an apartment at Leo Fishman manor.
Police evacuated residents and the Fire Department put out the fire.
Most of the damage was contained to one apartment. Sgt. Jasson Jobe, Onalaska Police Department said that one apartment is likely a total loss.
"By the time the fire department got in it was pretty well, the living area, was full of smoke and burnt up so we aren't able to determine what cause the fire at this time," Sgt. Jobe said.
Sgt. Jobe said investigators will likely be at the scene all night working to determine the cause.
They don't know when residents will be able to return home.
