LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW) - No one is injured after a small fire at the St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center on East Avenue South in La Crosse.
The fire started in a dryer in the laundry room at the center.
Firefighters say there was heavy smoke coming out of the vent and the chimney of the laundry room when they arrived.
An automatic sprinkler system right above the dryer went off and helped control the fire before firefighters could get in.
Division Chief Mark Amann says "Everything went perfect, it's the perfect example of a building having a fire alarm system...us getting early notification, having a sprinkler system to help control the fire, and the staff on scene, obviously were well trained and had practice."
Fire investigators are still seeking a cause.
