$20,000 raised for cancer research

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Hundreds gathered at UW-La Crosse March 9 to make a big donation: their hair.

Donors shaved their heads, or opted for buzz cuts, and that hair will be used to make wigs for cancer patients.

Among those who donated was ten-year-old Anna Maria Muller. She drove all the way from Eau Claire, hoping to help a friend who has cancer.

"I just wanted to help her because I felt kind of bad for her," Muller said.

The event raised more than $20,000. The goal set ahead of time was just $15,000.

That money now goes toward the St. Baldrick's Foundation to help research cancer in kids.
