LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The Blugolds returned to Aquinas with a little more hardware than they left with.
The team clinched its second state title in three years, this time against Lodi.
A welcome home pep rally Sunday brought Aquinas head coach Rick Schneider to the podium.
He introduced each member of his team, thanking them for their hard work this season.
"A lot of things have to go right," Schneider said. "The kids have to play well, you have to avoid the injury bug, sicknesses, those types of things, and then on top of it, you got to find a way to win, even if you're healthy. So, a lot went our way and we're just proud of our boys for getting out of there with a championship. "
"We practice every day and even after practice," said Aquinas forward Parker Weber about the work that went into the win. "You know, even outside of the gym, off the court, we hang out and we kinda get that team bond together. And it came out to work in the end."
Players also took to the mic to thank the crowd for their continued support.
