UPDATE: Woman injured in crash dies of injuries


CASHTON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - UPDATE: The Cashton woman injured in a one car crash on March 10th dies of her injuries.

Monroe County Sheriff Pete Quirin reports that Roxanna L. Thomson passed away March 16.

She was injured when her vehicle slid off Highway 27 near Cashton and rolled upside down into a water filled ditch. 

Sheriff Quirin says the accident remains under investigation.


CASHTON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A Cashton woman receives life threatening injuries when she loses control of her car and crashes upside down in a water filled ditch.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department report states the car, driven by 53-year-old Roxanne Thomson of Cashton was headed south on Highway 27 near the Highway 33 intersection when she spun out on the snowy road.  Her car hit a snow bank on the west side of the road and rolled over on its top into a ditch filled with two and a half feet of water.

The report states two Cashton firefighters came upon the scene.  Both got into the water to help free Thomson, who was hanging by her seatbelt.  Other rescue workers arrived to help get her out of her car.

She was then taken to Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse with life threatening injuries.
